Guide to the compilation of study plans
Bachelor’s degree and master’s degree programs consist of mandatory core courses, which cannot be replaced by other courses, and several elective courses, which must be taken in order to earn the required credits for the final degree. Students are asked to make choices regarding these courses.
For core courses in the degree programs, please see the academic procedures section of the site.
To make their selections, students must select courses and fill out the study plan online using Web Self Service according to the university's timetable and procedures.

Master's Degree Programs in English - students enrolled in the first year 2022-2023
- students have to select, through the Web Self Service, a 4 credit mandatory language course. Classes will be scheduled during the week, in the second semester of the first year. For further information University Language Center.
- Mandatory Internship or Project Work (code M219), to be completed during the Master's Degree program. For further information Career Services.

- Students enrolled in Marketing Master's Degree program - English majors - can change the chosen major by sending an email to segreteria@luiss.it
- Students enrolled in Global Management and Politics Master's Degree program will have to follow the course “Intensive PDW” (LABGMPENG) (in the second semester of the first year) to acquire the 4 credits foreseen in their study plan for the language

Bachelor’s degree programs
BACHELOR’S DEGREE PROGRAM IN ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT
- Students enrolled in I year 2021-2022 of the Bachelor's Degree Program in Economics and Management must choose through the Web Self Service the other activities to obtain 4 credits. Within the deadlines set and communicated by the Students Office, students must choose ONE of the following options available:
- Language
- Seminars
- Bachelor’ s degree Soft Skills
- Team Manager AS Luiss
- Internship
- Other activity (code SJ1)
- Challenge (T200)
- Students enrolled in II year 2021-22 of the Bachelor's Degree Program in Economics and Management must choose through the Web Self Service two elective courses. At least one of those courses must be in English. The list of the available elective courses for the a.y. 22-23 is published online, at the following page
Attention:
When selecting the elective courses, we remind students that:
- The course (ET06) Competitive strategy can only be chosen as an alternative to (AB2) Markets and strategies and viceversa
- The course (T034) Energy economics can only be chosen as an alternative to (ET04) Energy Markets and Industrial Organization and viceversa
- In order to support students on their future choices, inside the list of available elective courses offered in the a.y. 22-23, students will find the compatibility of single courses with Masters’ Degree courses offered by the Department. In other words, we have grouped courses by thematic areas (for example Marketing, Accounting Finance and Control, Finance, Management etc) corresponding to the areas covered by Master degree courses offered by Luiss. It is not mandatory to choose courses from the same thematic area, the categorization is only intended to support students on their choices and future career by incrementing awareness.
Kindly note that, students who wish to take advantage of the agreement between Luiss and the the professional accounting association of Certified Public Accountants, Auditors and Advisors (ODCEC):
- can carry out the internship and attain the 4 credits foreseen by the other activities in their study plan
- must select in their study plan one elective course or additional course with the following academic discipline field/group: SECS-P/07 (Controllo di gestione o Ragioneria professionale). Such a course is necessary also in order to take advantage of the agreement foreseen by the Accounting, Control and Finance master’s degree course
BACHELOR’S DEGREE PROGRAM IN MANAGEMENT AND COMPUTER SCIENCE
- Students enrolled in the first year 2021-2022 of the Bachelor's Degree program in Management and Computer Science must choose through the Web Self Service the mandatory language. For more information see the following link.
- Students enrolled in the second year 2021-2022 of the bachelor’s degree program in Management and Computer Science must choose through the Web Self Service:
- three elective courses. The list of the available elective courses for the a.y. 22-23 is published online, at the following page
- Other activities to earn 4 credits. Students must choose among one of the available following options in order to earn the 4 required credits:
*Management and Computer Science students will be able to obtain the 4 credits provided by the SJ1 code only for the activities recognized on their study plan, as indicated at the following page
Master’s degree courses
MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM IN ACCOUNTING, FINANCE AND CONTROL
Students enrolled in I year 2021-2022 of the Master's Degree Program in Accounting, Finance and Control must choose through the Web Self Service the major and two elective courses. The list of the available elective courses for the a.y. 22-23 is published online, at the following page
Kindly note that, student who wish to take advantage of the agreement between Luiss and the professional accounting association of Certified Public Accountants, Auditors and Advisors (ODCEC) must:
- hold a bachelor’s degree in the following category: L-18 Scienza dell’economia e della gestione aziendale – or in the category L33 – Scienze economiche;
- hold the necessary credits, as foreseen by the table in the first article of the agreement
- select, so as to be able to hold the necessary credits foreseen by the table in the third article of the agreement, the following elective or additional course:
• for the major in AFC – Aziendale, a course with the following academic discipline field/group: IUS/04; IUS/05; IUS/12; IUS/15; IUS/17;
• for the major in AFC – Professionale, a course with the following academic discipline field/group: SECS-P/08; SECS-P/09; SECS-P/10; SECS-P/11
The agreement foresees the acquisition of specific credits during the bachelor’s degree program and of different specific credits during the master’s degree program. As such, it is not possible to acquire the requirements foreseen during the bachelor’s course after the conclusion of the program.
MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAM IN CORPORATE FINANCE
Students enrolled in I year 2021-2022 of the master’s degree in Corporate Finance must choose through the Web Self Service two elective courses. The list of the available elective courses for the a.y. 22-23 is published online, at the following page
MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAM STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT
Students enrolled in I year 2021-2022 of the Master's Degree Program in Strategic Management must choose the major and two elective courses:
- Students who selected the Italian profile can choose a major in English or in Italian through the Web Self Service, and two elective courses. Kindly note that students enrolled in the Individual Study Plan must also choose two core courses, among all core courses offered both in Italian and English
- Students who selected the English profile, must choose an English Major according to the instructions provided by the relevant offices, and two elective courses in English. The language of the course is indicated in the exam programs. Students enrolled in the Individual Study Plan in English must also choose two core courses among the core courses offered in English Majors.

MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAM IN MARKETING
Students enrolled in I year 2021-22 of the master’s degree Program in Marketing must choose through the Web Self Service the elective courses. The list of the available elective courses for the a.y. 22-23 is published online, at the following page
ATTENTION: GENERAL DIRECTIONS FOR THE COMPILATION OF THE STUDY PLAN
- The study plan must always be confirmed. It is not possible to modify the choices made after the deadline
- The courses syllabus will be available at the following link and in the following section dedicated to the elective courses
- For each course and for some of the "other activities" there is a maximum number of students admitted. In order to be admitted to your preferred course, it is recommended to make the choice in the first days of the time window (which will be set and communicated by the Student office)
- a minimum number of students is necessary for the activation of an elective course and for the activation of some of the "other activities". The Student Office will contact students to make a second choice if a course will not be activated.
- In case of non-fulfillment, the study plan will be set "ex officio". No change will be possible.
- Students who wish to take one or both the elective courses and core program courses while studying abroad in the context of Erasmus, Double Degree, Structured Partnerships, QTEM, Free Mover and Summer Schools must select the generic option "Elective Abroad" and/or “Core Abroad”. The exam, if passed, will be included in the student’s academic record with the number of credits determined in the degree program for the elective courses. It is necessary that courses have already been approved in accordance with the procedures laid down for every mobility program: https://www.luiss.edu/international-programs . Should the exam for the elective course taken abroad not be passed, the student must inform the Students Office of the elective and associated exam that they intend to take at Luiss from among the list of courses activated by the Department that are not already full
- It is possibile to submit a request to add one or more elective courses outside the list of those indicated for their study courses by choosing among all the courses offered by the university
- It is possible, within the timeframe dedicated to the compilation of the study plan, to submit a written request to insert a course off the lists provided and among all those offered by the University. Kindly note that undergraduate students will not be able to select master's degree courses (and vice versa). The selected course should have a number of credits associated equal or above the number of credits foreseen for elective courses in one's study plan.
Additional Courses
Additional courses are not required in order to graduate. However, courses listed by the Department do affect students' final grade point averages. Students registered for their final year can add up to two additional courses. Additional courses are not mandatory, it will be possible to select them, within the period that will be communicated by the Student’s Office. The list of available courses will be published at the following link . Additional courses, if not taken, can be eliminated from the study plan with a written request to segreteria@luiss.it. It will not be possible to write the final thesis on Additional Courses.
